Nothing says college football like the Bronx in December

Hey third place football team in the Big East, guess what reward you’re getting for a solid season?  A bowl game in New York City!

While other teams will try their best to luxuriate in crappy places like Florida and California, you’ll get the Bronx in December.  Nothing says college football like playing in a billion dollar baseball stadium on December 30…in a game called the Pinstripe Bowl.

Yankees president Randy Levine dropped this hilarious nugget in regard to the game:  “I think no matter what the sport, every kid who grows up wants to play at Yankee Stadium.”

Uh huh, right.  The high temperature in New York City for this past December 30 was 32°F.  Compare that to the high temperature of 71°F in Tampa on the same date.

The opponent for the Big East team in the game will be the No. 6 team from the Big 12.  Regardless of the venue, fans from schools like K-State and Mizzou will go wherever their team goes.

But when I picture scores of purple clad Wildcat fans being mugged on the 4 train en route to Yankee Stadium, it makes me laugh.
