TMZ reporting that the NCAA is investigating Kentucky. TMZ?!?

TMZ is reporting that the NCAA is looking into the relationship between agents and some Kentucky basketball players:

In the case of one former Wildcat, we’re told the NCAA wants to know about his relationship with his current agent. We’re told the investigator asked about multiple meetings the agent allegedly had with the player … dating back to the player’s senior year in high school. (TMZ)

This isn’t the first time a Calipari coached team has had a black cloud over it because of something like this.  His 1996 UMass team had to vacate its Final Four appearance because Marcus Camby received gifts and money from an agent.

Is it just me, or is TMZ a weird outlet to be breaking a story like this?  I’m not sure what other angle is here that would interest a celebrity gossip site.  Did Ashley Judd give John Wall postgame handies to help him relax?  Did Calipari arrange for DeMarcus Cousins to be the meat in a Kardashian sister sandwich?  Hmmmmm…..
