Why American tennis sucks so bad right now

Hey James Blake, when you’re in the midst of getting your ass bounced out of Wimbledon in straight sets, shouldn’t you be concentrating on the match at hand and not what Pam Shriver is saying about you in the booth?:

Perhaps Blake would have gotten a little motivation to win if he had overheard Pam making comments like this about his play:

The state of American tennis right now is truly deplorable. I’m not sure if we were just insanely blessed during the Courier, Chang, Agassi, and Sampras years, but there’s NOTHING on the horizon of American men’s tennis that would lead me to believe a revival of power is on the way. Currently Andy Roddick is the lone American in the Top 18. And, there’s a total of 4 Americans in the Top 50! How many total Grand Slams do all the active American men have? 1? Is it really just Andy Roddick’s US Open?? Sampras won his last in ‘02. Agassi won his last on ‘03…coincidentally the same year that Roddick won his.

But, let’s not jump on James Blake too much. Yes, he has colossally under-performed in big moments and his career to this point has been disappointing. But, he is still coming back from a serious knee injury and his game isn’t up to par yet. But, perhaps James should keep his pie hole shut when talking down to reporters that own 22 more Grand Slam trophies than he does. Just a thought…

I can understand if Blake’s knee is dinged up….but if that’s the case, why did the douchenozzle even show up?
